Corrections Officer: Starting Salary – $37,800/yr. (plus $7,200 State Supplemental pay for P.O.S.T. certification)  Higher base salaries are possible based on previous law enforcement experience and paid incentives based on college education, military service, law enforcement-related certifications, etc. A corrections officer works rotating 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Duties include the following: conducting regular inspections of cell blocks, ensuring the safety and security of inmates, photographing and booking inmates, supervising inmate activities, and ensuring inmates maintain sanitary living conditions. There are also a limited number of part-time corrections officer positions.

Patrol Deputy: Starting Salary – $37,800/yr. (plus $7,200 State Supplemental pay) Higher base salaries are possible based on previous law enforcement experience and paid incentives based on college education, military service, law enforcement-related certifications, etc. Prior to becoming a Patrol Deputy, an employee may be required to work as a Correctional Officer for a period of time and must obtain P.O.S.T. Certification. A deputy is responsible for the efficient performance of required duties conforming to the rules, regulations, and general orders of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Duties include the following: identifying criminal offenders and criminal activities, apprehending offenders, preventive patrolling, traffic control, and promoting and preserving the peace.

Transitional Work Program Driver (part-time): $16.50/hr. The primary duty is shuttling Transitional Work Program residents to their work sites. Applicants must have a Class D chauffeur’s license.

School Guard (part-time): $12.04/hr. School guards must be at least 18 years of age and have completed a two-hour training program regarding proper traffic control techniques.
