Highway Safety Checkpoint Scheduled for Wednesday, June 11

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct a Highway Safety Checkpoint in Lafourche Parish during the daylight hours of Wednesday, June 11. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.

This checkpoint is part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.

A total of 320 vehicles passed through the last Highway Safety Checkpoint conducted along the northbound lane of LA Highway 1 in the Cut Off area on Wednesday, June 4. During the checkpoint, deputies reported the following violations:

  • 6 expired motor vehicle inspection stickers
  • 2 expired vehicle registrations
  • 1 no driver's license
  • 6 seat belt violations
  • 4 child restraint violations
