The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office will conduct two checkpoints this week. On Tuesday, July 22, deputies will conduct a Seat Belt Checkpoint during the evening hours in Lafourche Parish. Then on Wednesday, July 23, a Highway Safety Checkpoint will also be conducted within Lafourche Parish during the daylight hours. Deputies will be checking motorists for seat belt and safety seat violations, expired inspection tags, expired/suspended driver's licenses, and other violations.
These checkpoints are part of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office's year-long campaign designed to raise awareness for these types of violations and make the highways of the parish safer for all motorists.
