Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Thibodaux man following a fight at a bar wherein two people suffered knife wounds. James David (W/M, D.O.B. 02/22/75) of Thibodaux faces two counts of aggravated battery stemming from the incident.
At around 12:10 A.M. on Sunday, February 9, deputies and medical personnel responded to a call of a fight with multiple injuries at the Armadillo Club, located at 1988 Burma Road in Thibodaux. Upon arrival, deputies immediately made contact with James David who was wielding a knife and a pool cue. Despite deputies’ commands, David refused to drop the knife and pool cue. One of the deputies utilized a Taser, and subdued James into compliance. He was immediately taken into custody.
Through investigation, deputies learned David had allegedly started an altercation with several individuals and began physically attacking them. One female bystander attempted to break up the fight, and fell to the ground along with David. David then allegedly began striking the woman near her feet, and eventually struck her with a knife, cutting her near the ankle. Another bystander pulled David away from the others and began escorting him to the door. As he did so, David allegedly stabbed the man multiple times before being led outside. Both victims suffered wounds which were not life-threatening and are expected to recover.
David was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He is currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bond as set by Judge Walter I Lanier III.
