Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of a convenience store employee caught stealing over $10,000 in store deposits. Darlene Jackson (B/F, D.O.B. 04/26/63) of 1659 St. Patrick Street in Raceland confessed to taking the money after being caught for the second time by store management.

At around noon on Thursday, February 13, deputies responded to a convenience store on LA Highway 1 in Raceland in reference to over $10,000 missing from an account. Through investigation, deputies learned an employee, Darlene Jackson, was responsible for multiple missing deposits from January 5 through February 8. Deputies learned Jackson had been caught stealing money from the store once before, but management allowed her to pay back the amount taken. During questioning, Jackson admitted to the theft.

Jackson was placed under arrest and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where she was booked with Felony Theft. She was released Thursday afternoon after posting $5,000 bond as set by Judge Ashly Bruce Simpson.
