Convicted Felon Arrested After Firing Assault Rifle in Neighborhood

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a convicted felon from Thibodaux who was found to have fired several rounds from an assault rifle in a residential neighborhood. Marc Soudelier (W/M, D.O.B. 01/03/85) of 107 Due Drive faces weapons use and possession charges in the incident.
around 1:30 a.m. on Monday, March 3, deputies responded to the area near Due Drive and East Winder Road in Thibodaux after receiving multiple reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, deputies were alerted to the residence at 107 Due Drive where they spotted a man and a woman, as well as an AK-47 assault rifle sitting on the trunk of a car. As deputies approached the man, he began to walk away, but he was quickly detained. The man was identified as Marc Soudelier, and a pat-down revealed he was in possession of ammunition for the assault rifle. Through investigation at the scene, deputies learned Soudelier was agitated after visiting with a friend, and returned to the residence where he grabbed the rifle and fired several shots outside into the ground. A review of Soudelier’s criminal history revealed previous drug and weapons convictions.
Soudelier was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on charges of Illegal Discharge of a Firearm and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. He is remains in jail in lieu of $60,000 bond as set by Judge F. Hugh Larose.
