Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced investigators are seeking a man wanted for scamming several Lafourche Parish residents out of hundreds of dollars with the promise of trimming trees on their properties. A reward is being offered through Bayou Region Crime Stoppers for information on the whereabouts of Howard James Sevin (W/M, D.O.B. 06/03/80), whose last known address was 134 Morris Porche Lane in Gray.

Through investigation, detectives learned Sevin arrived at four houses - two in Thibodaux, one in Raceland, and one in Larose - and offered to trim trees on a resident's property at a discounted rate. In each case, Sevin collected money prior to completing the job and then left the site telling the property owner he was leaving to retrieve additional equipment. Sevin never returned to any of the sites.

Detectives have obtained warrants for Sevin's arrest for two counts of Theft of Assets of an Aged Person, two counts of Theft, and a Contempt of Court charge. The bond amounts on the warrants total $23,000.

Anyone with information on Sevin's whereabouts is asked to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.00 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest. Tips can be submitted through any one of these methods:
