Fifth Suspect Arrested in Diesel Theft

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported that a man wanted in connection to a 2012 diesel theft in Cut Off turned himself in to authorities on Thursday. Ned Dantin (W/M, D.O.B. 09/29/68) of 4434 Highway 24 in Bourg surrendered on Thursday, October 25 in Galliano.

Dantin was the fifth person charged with Felony Theft following an investigation into the theft of diesel from a Cut Off usiness in October 2012. Paul Charpentier (W/M, D.O.B. 12/05/77) and Gabriel Cheramie (W/M, D.O.B. 08/24/71), both of Galliano, Robert Chouest (W/M, D.O.B. 05/07/83) of Cut Off, and Nathan Wood (W/M, D.O.B. 04/10/81) of Golden Meadow are also charged with Felony Theft in the case

On October 16, 2012, deputies were called to a business on East 40th Street to investigate a burglary. Upon arrival, deputies learned that approximately 1,400 gallons of diesel fuel was missing as well as a chainsaw and 50 pounds of copper. They also found evidence of forced entry at a rear gate of the business near a diesel tank where a large amount of diesel had been spilled. Through investigation, detectives developed the five men as suspects in the case.

Dantin was released after posting $5,000 bond as set by the warrant.
