Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of two convicted felons from Galliano during a traffic stop after they were found to have firearms in their possession. Joey Guidroz (W/M, D.O.B. 12/13/84) of 282 West 133rd Street was the driver and was also charged with drug possession. Joey Guidry Jr. (W/M, D.O.B. 11/15/78) of106 West 161st Street was also found to have several active warrants for his arrest.
Just after 12 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18, patrol deputies traveling on LA Highway 308 in Galliano noticed a pick-up truck traveling northbound without a license plate. Deputies initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the occupants, asking each of them for identification. All provided the documentation except for one passenger who did not have identification on his person. The passenger initially gave deputies a false name but later properly identified himself as Joey Guidry Jr. Deputies discovered he had four active warrants and placed him under arrest.
Deputies then made contact with the driver, identified as Joey Guidroz, and obtained voluntary consent to search the vehicle. Prior to searching the vehicle, Guidroz asked deputies to retrieve his cigarettes from the vehicle. When deputies located the cigarette pack, they discovered six white Hydrocodone pills inside the pack. During the subsequent vehicle search, deputies located a loaded shotgun and a BB gun. Deputies also learned Guidroz and Guidry were convicted felons and could not possess a firearm. A third vehicle occupant was released at that time due to not being involved in any crime.
Both Guidroz and Guidry were transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux. Guidroz, the driver, was booked with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Hydrocodone, and no license plate. He is currently being held in lieu of $32,050 bond as set by Judge F. Hugh Larose. Guidry, meanwhile, was booked per his active warrants for Contempt of Court, Jumping Bail, Home Invasion, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and Simple Battery. He was also charged with Resisting an Officer and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He is being held in lieu of $58,000 bond as set by Judge Larose and the warrants, and has been ordered to pay $952 as per the contempt warrant.
