“We believe this operation will have significant impact on the availability of crack cocaine in this area,” said Sheriff Webre during a press conference Friday morning in Lockport. Aside from the upper-level dealers we targeted, there are a number of people being arrested for their first drug offense as part of this operation. We sincerely hope they are able to learn from this experience and get their lives back on track as they re-enter society.”

Sheriff Webre said he hopes this operation sends a loud and clear message to the drug violators still at large. “Don’t think we are not watching,” said Sheriff Webre. “Just because you don’t see an arrest every week doesn’t mean you’ll be able to continue to operate in this community. Our Task Force continues to have great cooperation with state and federal agencies which allows us to conduct these operations with greater resources.”

The Lafourche Parish Drug Task Force is a combined effort of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Thibodaux Police Department, and Lockport Police Department. In addition to the Task Force, several other agencies participated in Friday morning’s roundup, including DEA Groups 12 and 31, Louisiana Probation and Parole, and the Lafourche Parish Interagency Crisis Management Unit, which includes members of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Thibodaux Police Department, Lockport Police Department, Golden Meadow Police Department and Port Fourchon Harbor Police. Members of the Louisiana Air National Guard’s Counter Drug Program also provided logistical support before and during the operation.
