Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Lockport Chief of Police Warren Vedros reported the arrest of two teenagers for their roles in a beating and robbery that left a man in critical condition. Detectives arrested Chance Bourg (W/M, D.O.B. 05/30/95) of 343 Comeaux Drive in Lockport on Sunday for perpetrating the crime, and Caleb Baugh (B/M, 01/30/96) of 195 North Dominique Drive in Gheens was arrested as an accessory after the fact.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 15, deputies and police officers responded to a call that a man and woman had just been robbed while walking along Delta Drive in Lockport. It was learned the two of them were walking to the woman's car when a young man, later identified as Chance Bourg, began walking behind them asking for money. Bourg then attacked the man, striking him with what was later determined to be a flashlight, and the woman ran to her car for safety. Bourg fled the scene leaving the victim with blunt force trauma to his head and face, and his wallet was missing. The man was initially transported to a local hospital for treatment, but later he was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in New Orleans for emergency surgery. As of 8 a.m. on Monday, he was listed in critical, but stable, condition.

Detectives were called to the scene to investigate and discovered footprints in the grass which began at the crime scene and ended at Bourg's house on Comeaux Drive. Through investigation, detectives learned Bourg had attacked the male victim with a flashlight and then returned home. There, he told Baugh about the crime and showed him the bloody flashlight. Baugh wiped the blood from the flashlight and threw it in a neighbor's yard.

In working with Lockport Police, detectives determined Bourg was also responsible for a string of vehicle burglaries and an instance of theft around the time of the robbery. Bourg was found to have stolen a handgun during one of the burglaries. Detectives made contact with both Bourg and Baugh, and during questioning, they admitted to their crimes.

Bourg was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Theft, and three counts of Simple Burglary. He is currently being held in lieu of $830,000 as set by Judge Walter Lanier III, and he is also being held for Louisiana Probation and Parole. Caleb Baugh was charged with Accessory After the Fact to Armed Robbery. He is being held in lieu of $25,000 bond as set by Judge Lanier.
