Sheriff Craig Webre reported the arrest of a Des Allemands woman who confessed to setting a neighbor’s residence on fire. Jessica Bryan (W/F, D.O.B. 11/21/86) of 3942 Highway 90 East was arrested following an investigation into the blaze which resulted in a total loss of the neighboring home.

At around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, February 3, several agencies responded to a fire at a residential trailer in the 3900 block of U.S. Highway 90 East in Des Allemands. Volunteer firefighters from several local departments worked to extinguish the blaze, but the damage from the fire resulted in a total loss of the residence. In speaking to subjects at the scene, deputies suspected the fire may have been started intentionally.

Detectives responded to the scene and met with a representative of the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office who indicated the fire had been started at the rear of the trailer. Through investigation, detectives learned the residents of the home had been involved in a physical altercation with their neighbors earlier that evening at a separate location. The neighbors, one of whom was Jessica Bryan, returned to their home following the altercation, prior to the victims returning home. At that time, Bryan then went to the victim’s residence and discovered a gas can. She poured the fuel under the trailer, and ignited the fuel with a lighter.

Detectives questioned Bryan about the incident, and she admitted to her involvement. She further stated she acted alone in the incident. Bryan was placed under arrest and charged with Simple Arson of an Inhabited Dwelling. She is currently being held in lieu of $100,000 bond as set by Judge Walter I. Lanier III.
