Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a second suspect wanted in connection to the September 2013 murder of a Thibodaux man has surrendered to authorities. Michael Coleman (B/M, D.O.B. 02/25/91) of 2602 Ridgefield Road in Thibodaux, who had multiple active warrants for his arrest, turned himself in on Tuesday. Both Coleman and Junius Thompson III (B/M, D.O.B. 07/17/90) of Napoleonville, who surrendered in January, face the charge of Second Degree Murder in the September 2013 shooting death of 21-year-old Carnell McIntyre.

Just after 8:30 A.M. on Sunday, September 8, deputies and detectives responded to an area of Ridgefield Road in Thibodaux near the Marydale community after receiving a report of a body lying near the roadside. Detectives identified the subject as McIntyre and discovered he had died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Through investigation, detectives developed Thompson and Coleman as suspects in McIntyre’s murder and obtained warrants for their arrests. On Tuesday, January 7, Thompson turned himself over to authorities with the New Orleans Police Department after learning he had a warrant for his arrest, and is currently being held at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux in lieu of $500,000 bond.

Then on Tuesday, February 11, Coleman turned himself in at the Detention Center. He was booked on active warrants for Second Degree Murder, Simple Battery, Home Invasion and Contempt of Court for Thibodaux City Court. He is being held in lieu of $603,000 bond as set by warrants.

Coleman’s Simple Battery charge stems from an incident which occurred after McIntyre’s murder, on September 19, 2013, wherein Coleman punched another man following a verbal altercation. The Home Invasion charge stems from November 3rd incident wherein Coleman entered a residence on Ridgeway Street in Thibodaux and began making threats to people inside the home.

Due to the nature of the ongoing investigation into McIntyre’s murder, no further details can be made available at this time.
