Taxes can also be paid in person at the Administrative Office in Thibodaux and the South Lafourche Sub-station in Galliano. Payments are accepted in the form of cash, checks, money orders, credit cards or debit cards. A 3% surcharge will be added to any credit card or debit card payments.
*Those paying online or in person may make "partial payments." A partial payment must be at least 25% of the total amount due within a maximum of four payments. All partial payments must be completed in full by March 31, or the collection company will assess a 10% collection fee on the unpaid amount.
Tax payments can also be paid in full with a check or money order through standard mail to: Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 5608, Thibodaux, LA 70302. Payments are also accepted at Lafourche Parish branches of the following banks: Coastal Commerce Bank, Community Bank, First American Bank, Regions Bank, South Lafourche Bank, State Bank & Trust, and Whitney Bank.

Tax notices are sent out annually to Lafourche Parish property owners usually during the month of November. Taxes not paid by December 31 of that year become "delinquent" with interest accruing at a rate of 1% per month until paid.
Taxes that remain unpaid as of February 1 of the following year will incur an additional 10% collection cost on the unpaid amount as well as the additional costs associated with the tax sale. If the property is sold at the tax sale, the owner is subject to lose the homestead exemption. Property sold at the tax sale may be redeemed up to three years from the date of recordation. A 5% penalty and 1% interest charge per month will apply. The owner must contact the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office to redeem the property.
NOTE: Homeowners should always first check with their mortgage company before paying a bill to avoid double payment. Anyone who purchased property within the year will more than likely have their tax bill mailed to the previous property owner, but the current owner is responsible for all taxes due.
