$100,000 Bond Set for 4th Offense DWI - Sgt. Lesley Hill Peters

$100,000 Bond Set for 4th Offense DWIA Chauvin man is in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center at this hour charged with multiple offenses related to drinking and driving. Shortly before 3:00 AM Friday, deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of Forty Arpent Road after a concerned citizen reported seeing a truck in the ditch.

When they arrived they found Jonathon Ledet (W/M, DOB 4/22/1981, 204 Rosemary Ave, Chauvin) sitting in the drivers seat with no one else in or near the vehicle. Deputies detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Ledet’s breath but he refused to participate in a field sobriety test or to later blow into the Intoxilyzer machine. Mr. Ledet’s speech was slurred and he had difficulty maintaining his balance.

Ledet is charged with 4th offense DWI (R.S. 14:98). As deputies were investigating, they also discovered Ledet was driving with a suspended license and that he should have had an ignition interlock device on any vehicle he was driving. With those facts in mind, charges of R.S. 14:334 (failing to install an ignition interlock device) and R.S. 32:415 (driving with a suspended license) were added. Judge Bruce Simpson set bond on all charges of $110,000.
