LPSO Recognized for Stellar DWI Arrest Efforts - Sgt. Lesley Hill Peters

LPSO Recognized for Stellar DWI Arrest EffortsSheriff Craig Webre congratulated the men and women of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for being honored for a second straight year for their efforts in keeping impaired drivers off the road. Today Patrol Division Commander Scott Silverii and Sgt. Roland Guillot were on hand at the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission luncheon to recognize outstanding achievement in arresting impaired drivers.

LHSC has presented the awards for the last two years. This year, LPSO again was recognized for making the most DWI arrests for an area with a population of between 50,000 to 99,000 residents. In 2009, LPSO deputies made 297 DWI arrests.

In conjunction with today’s award, Sheriff Webre presented the LPSO Blue Max award to Sgt. Roland Guillot for making the most individual DWI arrests in 2009 with 53. For his efforts, Sgt. Guillot receives a new patrol unit and a special license plate for the front of that unit that identifies him as this year’s Blue Max recipient.

“I applaud Roland and all of the men and women who patrol Lafourche Parish every day with the daunting mission of keeping every citizen safe,” said Sheriff Webre. “There is no doubt in my mind that we will continue to be a leader in this arena,” he added.
