Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of James Landry (age 34) of Thibodaux on January 1, 2017. Deputies responded to a disturbance at a bar in Chackbay just before 11 p.m. on Friday, December 30. Upon arrival, deputies learned three male subjects were attempting to start fights with other patrons throughout the night. They were eventually asked to leave the premises. Once in the parking lot, one of the men, identified as James Landry, struck a man with a glass bottle in what appeared to be an unprovoked attack. This led to several other patrons coming to the victim’s defense which resulted in a large fight. Shortly after the fight began, Landry was seen entering a vehicle and fleeing the scene. The victim was treated at a local hospital having suffered a broken bone on his face. Following an investigation, deputies obtained a warrant for Landry’s arrest for the charge of Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. Then on January 1, deputies made contact with Landry at a family member’s residence in Thibodaux, and he was taken into custody. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on the warrant for Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. His bond is set at $20,000.
