Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of Carl Shelvin (age 23) of Gray on Monday, February 12. Just after 5:30 p.m. on Monday, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Bayou Blue Bypass Road in Bayou Blue. Deputies made contact with the driver and two passengers. The rear seat passenger initially gave a false name, but he was later identified as Carl Shelvin. He was found to have over 117 grams of marijuana, nearly 28 grams of crack cocaine, approximately 4 grams of cocaine, a handgun, and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Shelvin was arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on charges including Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine , Crack Cocaine, and Marijuana, as well as Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal Carrying of a Weapon in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting an Officer. His bond is set at $137,000.
