Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a 19-year-old man has died as a result of an overnight shooting in the Rita community in Lockport. Alton Adams, 19, of Bayou Blue died at the scene. The investigation is continuing, and no suspects are in custody.

At around 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, deputies responded to a call of a shooting in the 100 block of East Fontinelle Street in Lockport. Deputies arrived and found Adams was inside his mother’s residence when the shooting occurred. One of the rounds penetrated the residence and struck Adams. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots.

The investigation into this shooting is continuing.
