Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter, and Houma Chief of Police Dana Coleman announced investigators are searching for a teenager who has gone missing after reportedly stealing two rifles from a family member’s home early Thursday morning. Krisean Rene Salinas, 14, of Houma is wanted for Felony Theft.
Salinas and his mother had been staying with a relative on West 176th Street in Galliano for the past few days. At around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, deputies received a call that Salinas had fled the relative’s residence, and he had reportedly taken two rifles, an AK-47 and an AR-15. The weapons were not loaded, and all ammunition at the residence was accounted for. Relatives believe Salinas may have initially tried hitching a ride to the area of Highway 24 in Larose, and he may have been in the Houma area Thursday morning. It is believed Salinas is still somewhere in the area of Lafourche or Terrebonne Parish.
Salinas is described as a black male, 6’0” tall, and weighs approximately 160 pounds. He has dark hair which was last seen styled with dreadlocks. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with gray pants. He had a dark navy backpack in his possession.
Salinas is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with knowledge of his current whereabouts should call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not attempt to engage Salinas in any manner.
