Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced deputies have identified two suspects wanted in connection to a string of recent thefts and attempted thefts in Raceland. Joshua Rousseau, 30, of Hahnville was identified as one of the suspects and is currently in jail in St. Charles Parish. The driver, identified as George Hunter, 36 of Des Allemands, is still at large.
On Sunday, February 17, deputies investigated a string of crimes including burglary, theft and attempted theft most of which occurred on St. Anthony Street in Raceland. Some residents reported stolen property, and others had some property moved to the roadside to apparently be stolen later. Surveillance cameras captured images of a white male subject and a pickup truck with an unknown driver.
Through investigation, deputies identified the male subject as Joshua Rousseau. They were also able to determine the driver of the truck was George Hunter. They obtained warrants for both for Simple Burglary, two counts of Theft, and seven counts of Attempted Theft, one of which was for attempting to steal a motor vehicle.
Rousseau was found to be incarcerated in St. Charles Parish on unrelated charges, and he remains in jail there at this time. George Hunter remains at large.
