Detectives Investigating Copper Theft at Lockport Shipyard

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help in an investigation into copper that was recently stolen from a shipyard in Lockport.

Last week, deputies responded to a report of theft at a shipyard in Lockport. Deputies learned two rolls of copper welding cable had been stolen from the shipyard. The incident occurred at 9:47 p.m. on October 8, 2019, and was captured by a nearby surveillance camera. The suspect appears to be a white male, and he was driving a dark gray Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck.

Deputies are now seeking the public’s help in this case. Anyone who may recognize the suspect or vehicle or anyone with any knowledge of this crime is asked to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by phone at 1-800-743-7433 or online at www.crimestoppersbr.org. Tips can also be submitted using the P3 Tips app on your mobile device. Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
