UPDATE: Body of Missing Leeville man Discovered on Thursday

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre reported the body of 59-year-old Talbot Serigny of Leeville was found on Thursday, May 20. A boater discovered Serigny, who had been missing since May 15, 2021, in the Leeville area.

Serigny was reported missing on Wednesday, May 19, after family members had not heard from him in several days. He was last confirmed to be seen in the Leeville area on Saturday night, May 15. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and Port Fourchon Harbor Police began searching on land and in the water after Serigny was reported missing.

On Thursday, May 20, a boater traveling in Bayou Lafourche discovered a man’s body in the Leeville area and notified law enforcement. Investigators identified the man as Serigny. The investigation into his death is continuing, but there is no evidence of foul play.

2021 LSA Scholarship Awarded to South Lafourche High School Graduate

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced South Lafourche High School graduate Joshua Scioneaux has been awarded the 2021 Louisiana Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship for Lafourche Parish. Scioneaux will receive the $500 scholarship to assist him with expenses as he plans to pursue a degree in nursing from Nicholls State University. On his application, Scioneaux expressed plans to become a certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

Sheriff Webre said, “Congratulations to Mr. Scioneaux on his recent graduation and on receiving the LSA scholarship. He is very deserving of this honor having been recognized for several honors in high school and having been involved in numerous activities. I wish him the best of luck as he pursues his degree.”

The Louisiana Sheriffs’ Educational Scholarship Program awards $500 to graduating high school students in parishes where the sheriffs are members of the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program. Funding for this scholarship is made possible through the generous support of Lafourche Parish’s Honorary Members. The goal of the program is to provide assistance to worthy Louisiana students in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the program.

To be eligible for the LSA scholarship, each applicant must be a Lafourche Parish resident and a high school senior planning to enroll as a full-time student at Nicholls State University or L.E. Fletcher Technical Community College. The scholarship is awarded as a gift, not a loan, to defray the rising costs of tuition and related expenses in higher education. An independent board of review selects the winner of the scholarship.

MISSING PERSON: Talbot Serigny

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office and Port Fourchon Harbor Police are asking for the public’s help in locating Talbot Joseph Serigny, 59, of Leeville. He was last seen in the Leeville area during the late night hours of Saturday, May 15, 2021. He is known to frequent the areas of Golden Meadow and Port Fourchon, as well as the Leeville area where he resides.

Serigny is described as 5’10” tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds with brown hair. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 532-2808, or simply dial 911.

Narcotics Agents Arrest Larose Man for Drug Possession and Distribution

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced a Larose man faces drug possession and distribution charges following a narcotics investigation. Ronnie Delaune, 47, of Larose was arrested on Tuesday.

Narcotics agents had been investigating Ronnie Delaune in regards to suspected narcotics use and distribution at his Palm Street residence in Larose. As part of the investigation, they obtained an arrest warrant for Principal to Distribution of Methamphetamine as well as a search warrant for the residence.

On May 18, 2021, agents arrived at the residence and immediately made contact with Delaune. He was found to have methamphetamine and marijuana in his possession. Drug Paraphernalia was also located in his residence.

Delaune was arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. He was booked on the aforementioned warrant. He was additionally charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Marijuana, as well as Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail is set at $110,500.

Sheriff Webre Announces Plans for “Click It or Ticket” Campaign

Sheriff Craig Webre announced the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will join other local law enforcement agencies in participating in the Click It or Ticket campaign which runs from May 24 through June 6, 2021. The campaign is coordinated and funded by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Additional deputies will be assigned to saturated patrol efforts in conjunction with the campaign. Deputies will be checking motorists for proper seat belt and safety seat use, as well as other violations.

Click It or Ticket is a seat belt enforcement campaign aimed at increasing the national seat belt usage rate. According to the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission, in 2019, observational surveys showed that 87.5 percent of all Louisiana drivers and passengers were wearing their seat belts. While this record usage rate is good news for Louisiana, there is much work to be done in moving toward 100 percent compliance.

Galliano Man Charged with First Degree Rape of a Juvenile

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced the arrest of a Galliano man for First Degree Rape of a juvenile. Jesus Romero, 40, was arrested on Friday.

Juvenile detectives recently opened an investigation into Romero into allegations of ongoing sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 13. Following a thorough investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Romero’s arrest.

On May 14, 2021, detectives made contact with Romero, and he was arrested. Romero was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux on the warrant for First Degree Rape. Bail has not yet been set.

Due to the nature of the allegations, no further details of this incident will be released.

RUNAWAY TEEN: Trayvon Chisley

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre is asking for the public’s help in locating 16-year-old Trayvon Chisley of Williams Street in Raceland. Chisley left his residence around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2021, following an argument with a family member. He was last seen in the area of Triple Oaks Drive in Raceland.

Chisley is described as 6’3” tall, weighing approximately 255 pounds with black hair. He was last seen wearing a red jacket, black and white sweat pants, and black Nike slide sandals. Three Men Arrested on Drug Charges in Larose

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced three people were arrested on drug charges in Larose on Tuesday. Reggie Estay, 46, and Alexander Creppel, 57, both of Larose, were arrested along with Michael Guidry Jr., 47, of Lockport.

While patrolling the Larose area on the afternoon of May 11, 2021, narcotics agents responded to a reported disturbance reported at Estay’s residence on West 11th Street. When agents arrived, they discovered several people at the residence including Estay, Creppel and Guidry. Creppel and Guidry were found in possession of meth, and Creppel also had drug paraphernalia in his possession. Agents also noticed various drug paraphernalia around the residence and applied for a search warrant. After obtaining the warrant, agents found meth and paraphernalia belonging to Estay. All three men were arrested and booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux.

Estay and Creppel were each charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia. Estay’s bail is set at $10,100. Creppel posted bail in the amount of $2,600 and was released on Wednesday afternoon. Guidry was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, and his bail is set at $7,500.

radKIDS® Defense Courses Slated for June and July 2021

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office will host radKIDS® Defense Courses for children in Raceland, Galliano, and Thibodaux in June and July. These courses are designed for children 5 to 12 years of age and provide hands-on techniques giving children the tools they need to identify, avoid and respond to danger.

“RAD” stands for “Resist Aggression Defensively.” Through radKIDS® training, children become empowered and learn to replace fear, confusion, and panic in dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills, and self-esteem. It is an educational opportunity for children to learn personal safety strategies as they will receive special training in school safety, 911 calls, and general awareness. On the final day, they get to “fight off” an aggressor. The courses are taught by deputies of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office certified to instruct the children in self-defense and awareness of possible dangerous situations. 

Detectives Investigating Saturday Evening Shooting on LA Highway 182 in Raceland

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced detectives are investigating a shooting incident between two vehicles traveling on a Raceland highway Saturday evening. No injuries have been reported in the incident.

At around 7 p.m. on May 8, 2021, deputies and detectives responded to several calls of a shooting involving two vehicles traveling in Raceland. Investigators learned the incident began on the LA 182 north bridge spanning Bayou Lafourche. On the bridge, someone traveling in a red or maroon Hyundai exited the vehicle and began shooting at occupants in a gray Nissan Maxima. Both vehicles then began traveling west on LA 182 toward Bayou Blue. As they were traveling west, additional shots were fired.

Investigators located the Nissan in Raceland with damage from at least one round. Detectives also recovered several bullet casings from the area of the incident.

No arrests have yet been made as the incident remains under investigation. As the investigation continues, detectives are asking for the public’s assistance.
